Microamp secures funding from Balnord and ffVC to accelerate next-generation 5G mmWave networks

Polish mmWave pioneer strengthens position as European leader in critical telecommunications infrastructure

Microamp, a global leader in advanced 5G mmWave wireless connectivity, has secured strategic funding in a round led by Balnord with participation from ffVC. The capital will be used to develop and scale Microamp’s mmWave systems, which deliver up to 4 Gbps data rates within 800 MHz bandwidth with near-zero latency. The portable, end-to-end solution is engineered to be highly resistant to electromagnetic interference and jamming and is difficult to detect, enabling robust 5G private network deployments across commercial and defense sectors.

European technological independence in the AI era

Microamp stands with the capability to deploy end-to-end 5G mmWave networks in standalone mode that are mainly used for real-time decision making and real-time data analytics. As geopolitical tensions rise and Europe seeks greater technological autonomy, Microamp 5G mmWave networks represent a critical component in building sovereign capabilities in critical infrastructure.

"The AI revolution is driving an explosion in data throughput requirements. Our mmWave networks are technologically perfect for handling the most demanding AI workloads - from real-time massive data uploads and industrial-scale image and video processing to providing the military-grade security levels that AI systems require,"
explains Dawid Kuchta, CEO of Microamp.

Market forecasts predict the private 5G mmWave segment will reach $3.81 billion by 2028, growing at a 61.92% CAGR, while the overall private 5G networks market expands from $14.39 billion in 2024 to $46.42 billion in 2028.

Strategic partnerships and market momentum

Microamp has built an impressive ecosystem of strategic partnerships with global technology leaders, including AMD, Supermicro and Druid Software. The company is also actively collaborating with several of the most innovative System Integrators in Europe and APAC deploying the most advanced wireless systems in logistics, media & entertainment and manufacturing. Microamp is increasingly being chosen for 5G mmWave RAN and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions on the global market by leading mobile network operators who are testing Microamp technology for potential large-scale roll-outs.

The company has also been selected for the NATO DIANA (Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic) program, ranking among the top 4% of startups in dual-use technologies, confirming the strategic importance of its solutions for European and transatlantic security.

Revolution in critical communications

Microamp's solutions address key communication challenges in sectors where network failures can have critical consequences - defense, energy, healthcare and industrial infrastructure. Unlike WiFi, which is vulnerable to hacking and ineffective in outdoor environments, mmWave technology provides secure, interference-resistant connections with near-zero latency.

"Our mmWave solutions are the answer to the growing demands of Industry 4.0 and AI applications, which require not only enormous throughput but primarily military-grade reliability and security. What sets our technology apart is the ability to deploy complete network infrastructure within hours, while competitors need weeks,"
explains Marcin Góralczyk, CTO of Microamp Solutions.

Microamp’s offering includes 5G mmWave private networks for industrial applications and FWA solutions, delivering exceptional performance: data rates of up to 4 Gbps within 800 MHz bandwidth and near-zero latency. The solutions are portable, field-ready and quick to deploy – enabling networks to be up and running in under 15 minutes. Microamp systems exhibit high resistance to electromagnetic interference and jamming and are difficult to detect, ensuring reliable operation in demanding industrial and military environments.

A key element of the offering is the unique Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) architecture, which enables building mesh networks using mmWave spectrum not only for communication between base stations and devices, but also for backhaul connections between base stations. This solution significantly reduces infrastructure costs and accelerates deployments.

Microamp regional impact

This investment aligns with the broader strategy of building Europe's technological independence, particularly in the Baltic Sea region. Balnord, as the leading frontier tech fund in the CEE region, brings not only capital but also extensive experience in scaling dual-use technologies and a broad network of contacts in defense and critical infrastructure sectors.

"In an era of intensifying technological competition, investments in European mmWave capabilities are not just business decisions, but strategic necessities. Europe needs its own champions in critical technologies and Microamp has everything it takes to become a global leader in this field,"
adds Aleksander Szalecki, CSO of Microamp.

ffVC, serving as a strategic co-investor in this round, contributes unique experience as a US-Japanese-Polish fund with a strong network of contacts in the APAC region, which is particularly valuable in the context of Microamp's global market expansion.

“We have been greatly impressed by Microamp’s cutting-edge expertise in millimeter-wave technology. In Japan and across the broader APAC region, we foresee significant growth in demand for 5G millimeter-wave applications, spanning smart manufacturing, enhanced connectivity for underserved communities, and advanced national defense applications. At ffVC, we are thrilled to partner with Microamp in its international expansion, particularly through our networks and expertise in Japan.”
comments Taro Hizume, Partner at ffVC.
"Microamp represents the type of strategic investment Europe needs - leveraging our region's technical excellence to build sovereign capabilities in critical infrastructure. As the digital realm becomes increasingly contested, secure communication technologies developed in the Baltic Sea region will be vital not only commercially but also for Europe's technological independence. Dawid, Marcin and Aleksander have demonstrated their ability to build technologies that address real industry challenges. Their experience in military projects, combined with a focus on commercial scalability, positions them perfectly to respond to today’s geopolitical environment,"
comments Marcin P. Kowalik, General Partner at Balnord.
